Often dubbed the ‘City of Gold’, Dubai is
among the hottest tourist and business destinations in the
world. Today, legendary Arabic culture and traditions blend
seamlessly with contemporary living and magnificent
buildings that kiss the sky. It is literally a world within
a world, offering everything imaginable and beyond; there is
something for everyone in Dubai, whatever your age and
interests.
Experience Dubai. Celebrate life.
Part of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab
Emirates, Dubai is sited at the Persian Gulf coast. The
emirate covers around 3,900 sq km, while the city itself is
roughly 35 sq km. Dubai shares its borders with Abu Dhabi in
the south, Sharjah in the north-east, and the Sultanate of
Oman in the south-east. Dubai Creek, a natural inlet from
the Gulf, divides the city in two. It is said that though
Dubai's economy was built on the oil industry, today, oil
and natural gas account for less than six percent of the
emirate’s revenues.
Travel
Dubai has a sub-tropical, arid climate with infrequent and
irregular rains. The best time to visit would be between
November and March, when the weather is pleasant and sunny
without being unbearably hot and humid, which is the case
from June to August. Winter temperatures hover around 23
degrees C in the daytime, while nights are cooler.
Dubai is a melting pot of cultures and nationalities, and
you would be hard-pressed to not find someone who speaks
your language. Official language is Arabic, though English
and most other common international languages are widely
used for business and commercial purposes.
